I recently paid off my debt entirely through settlements and have a 520 credit score. When will it go up?

I settled for as little as 20% of the balances but settled all of them. Will paying them off with such little an amount affect me too? And how soon will my credit improve?

Make sure you never again get a negative report added. Do NOT apply for any credit for at least a year. Inquiries can remain on your report for 2 years, and they do drop your score, especially for the first 6 months or so.

Pay all of your bills in full on time. Do not overdraft bank account. Focus first on keeping your bank account clean, savings growing, bank relationship growing. Pay all your rent & utilities on time. If any other accounts have survived (cell ph, charge/credit card, car loan, etc), ensure payments are received in full on time.

Don’t expect any change for at least 6-9 months. If you do all the above, within a year it should start to improve. Then take out a bank loan against your Certificate of Deposit (which you have been building up your savings to get) which you’ve had at least 3 months. You will be able to borrow about 70-80% of the amount on deposit, so with a $5000 CD, you can borrow up to about $4000. Pay it monthly. This gets reported on credit reports monthly! This is an easy loan to get (it’s secured – the bank holds your CD), and it does boost your score.

After you have at least 6 – 12 monthly bank loan payment reports on your credit records, then you might have a prayer of your bank converting your MasterCard/Visa debit card to a bank credit card. Your bank pays attention to your banking records and your relationship with them, not just a credit report. Working with your bank is a very effective way to rebuild.

Ask lenders for agreement to delete this items from your credit report when paying them. I recommend to get such agreement thru credit repair agency, for example this one – credit-report-score.10001mb.com
